This weekend was an extreme challenge. I haven’t felt this intense need for will power since I was competing as a bodybuilder. It’s now day 7 of my 30 day reset diet and over the course of the weekend I prepared for my son’s 9th birthday. This included: packing up snacky treats for party favors, making an ice cream sandwich cake, making special birthday pancakes and serving up pizza! On top off all the challenges with the food was the chaotic stress of organizing and running a “nerf gun war party” for 16 nine year olds for 2 hours!! I was over loaded and could feel the stress creeping in and my cravings for salty/ sweet food nagging my soul! BUT! I have a goal, and that is to shift my personal nutrition to where I know my body prefers to be, so I stuck to my plan and didn’t give into sampling the treats I was serving.
In the end I feel better for the choices I made. This is not the last time I can have pizza or cake. Maybe another time, but not today. Will power is important here, but what is more powerful is knowing that eating those foods (especially in a time of stress) is not helping my body.
One last note, success was also achieved by knowing that I have a support group that surrounds me. I reached out to them personally and through my online forum with Arbonne. Everyone was amazing with helpful tips and encouragement. We all need a community around us to help us reach our goals.
